Map of the Pioneer Village
Carriage House
On the way to the Carriage House.
Carriage House
Looking southwest at the Carriage House which houses a covered wagon and stage coach among other items.
Blacksmith Shop
This log cabin was moved here not many years ago. It has always been closed when I have been there. This view is looking to the northwest. Now we will cross the road and take a look at the Meeting House.
Meeting House
An afternoon shot of the Meeting House looking southeast.
Meeting House
A morning view looking southwest of the rear of the Meeting House taken from the footbridge. The carriage house is in the distance.
Meeting House - Interior
View of the interior from just inside the south door.
Village Scene
On the way to the Apothecary Shop which can barely be seen behind the bushes on the left. I meant to get a view from north of the Meeting House but failed to do so, here is one just south a bit. My favourite village view from near the Carriage House was fairly impossible because of the time of year.
Apothecary & Mercantile Shops
These buildings are rather small and I didn’t attempt any interior shots as they were preparing to close for the day. I did step inside the Mercantile shop for a few seconds, the first in nearly fifty years. The Mercantile shop is on the right and part of the Granny White House can be seen in the distance.
Apothecary & Mercantile Shops
Here is a head on rear view looking west at the two shops. First the mill stream and race are in view, then the shops. I decided not to crop the photo and instead include “Lower Residence” in the distance.
A Foot Bridge & Three Log Cabins
A view of Mill Creek with the Leather Shop, Granny
White House and the Weaver’s Shop in the distance.
On the other side of Mill Creek near the foot bridge is a path which leads to the waterfalls and Hamer Cave, we will take that next.
