Hamilton County Courthouse

This beautiful county courthouse in Noblesville was built in 1879 in the French Renaissance style. The old jail can be seen to the right, partially hidden by the courthouse.

This was my county seat when I turned eighteen and I have some good memories of this area. This courthouse was also my second one to draw many years ago of which I did in pen & ink with much detail. This view is looking to the southwest on the morning of April 2, 2010.

Old Sheriff's Residence & Jail

Built in 1876, it now serves as the Hamilton County Museum of History. This view is looking north-northeast.

Another view looking to the northwest. Friday is definitely not the idea time to photograph Noblesville as the traffic is very heavy. I couldn’t back away in this view and a good shot from across the street was impossible.

North Side of Courthouse Square

For the young people, yes those are railroad tracks in the foreground, you don’t see them often now. It was a common sight seeing a train going through the middle of a town when I was young. These photos were taken on the morning of April 2, 2010.

An Old Building on the North Side

A rather decorated old building on the north side of the square. It is the third building from the right in the photo above.

South Side of Courthouse Square

Here is a view of the whole block with the above building toward the right. I would have liked to have been able to get more of the buildings but there was just too much traffic. Both photos were taken on the morning of April 2, 2010.

Italianate Building on the South Side

Another nice old commercial building on the south side of the courthouse square which can be seen in the above photo toward the right.

Old Building Facade on the East Side of the Courthouse Square

A beautiful old building facade at the north end of the block on the east side of the square. The store fronts at the street level have been modernized and with the cars parked in front anyway, I went for this view. Looking northeast and taken on April 2, 2010.
